Babes Rage: Can you tell us a little about your background? Where are you from? How did you first get into art?

I was born and grew up in London, UK, but currently live in Berlin, Germany. As cliché as it might sound, I have been into art for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I loved drawing the characters from cartoons I watched all the time!

Babes Rage: Can you tell us about some of the themes in your illustrations?

My main theme is to create retro-inspired illustrations that represent black women. I have always loved retro styles, vintage comics, and pin-up.

However, art created within this community often lacks representation of black people and other people of colour, so I decided to create those drawings myself. Who better to draw black women than another black woman?

Babes Rage: What or who inspires you most?

My mum is also an artist, and her main focus is women, too, so she definitely inspired me and left a big impression on my own art. I’m also a big fan of Robert McGinnis’ work and generally draw a lot of inspiration from events in my life.

Babes Rage: Do you have plans, shows, or projects we should be on the lookout for in the future?

I have a lot of plans, including soon selling prints and products and doing some pop-up shops and markets, so stay tuned on my social media for announcements.
